I'm trialing Sibelius 8, and there is no cross-staff facility. Is this really not available now? I see it on tutorials between the voices and Intervals on the track at the top under note-input. If Sibelius no longer has this feature it is no good for me, but I find it difficult to believe it's not possible to beam from one stave to the other in a piano score.

If you have the trial version, IS it the trial version or is it Sibelius First? It should say under File->Help->About.

Cross staffing is definitely available in sib 8 (and has been since the very early days, though it doesn't always work gracefully, select a note(s) in one staff and press [ctrl][shift][uparrow/downarrow] and the note(s) should move onto the other staff

Thanks. The version happens to be 2018.7 build 2009. I had understood that I was trailing the one they are selling, namely “ultimate”. The short cut you suggest doesn’t do anything. I’m mystified by this and it puts me off buying the product. Any suggestions?

I suspect you are using the free sibelius first version. This is a VERY limited subset of Sibelius' abilities.

Cross staffing definitely works in the full version (utimate)

However, I have just checked and it is not included in the plain sibelius version (this used to be called sib first and is also severely limited.)

Hello!
Please could you explain how to do cross-staff on the last Sibelius version?
I can't find any icon on the top menu.

This is what I need to do:

Thank you!

Put the notes in on one staff Select the ones you want to go into the other staff and press [ctrl/cmd][shift][up arrow] to move them up or [ctrl/cmd][shift][down arrow] to move them down.

Rests in the other staff will still be there and may need to be hidden.

Thank you for replaying, Mike!
It is not working. It only moves the note by octaves with ctrl key+arrow.
I don't know what is wrong!
Any other idea please?
Thank you

Mike said Ctrl+SHIFT+arrow, not just Ctrl+arrow. The latter does shift notes by an octave.

Check your sibelius keyboard shortcuts to make sure this one isn't being redirected. Could it be being hijacked by your OS?

Hi Orlando,

Can you send me the actual sib score so I can see if I can spot anything amiss?

Are you on Mac or Windows? Which versionof the OS?

Actually someone has made a good suggestion on the sib help page. Are these staves belonging to a single grand staff instrument, or did you make them from separate instruments?
