How to import MIDI file onto grand staff?

Sibelius beginners can discuss all things Sibelius here ("how do I...?").

I cannot find a way to import a 1-track MIDI file of piano music onto a grand staff consisting of the treble staff above the bass staff. What I get is a treble staff with lots of notes on lots of ledger lines below the staff. I have unchecked the box "One staff per track" in the Open MIDI File dialog box. How can I get Sibelius First to display the notes on the grand staff?

There are two types of MIDI file Type 1 and Type 0. One of them does this, the other imports normally.

That does not solve the problem. I tried MIDI format 0 and MIDI format 1, and both files import onto a single treble staff. Do there need to be two tracks in the MIDI file, one for the treble staff, and one for the bass staff?

I discovered the solution is to separate the treble and bass parts into two tracks in the MIDI file, which I named Treble and Bass, then save it as a MIDI format 1 file. When I imported that into Sibelius, there were two connected staves, labeled Treble and Bass, but they were both treble staves. Then I selected a bass clef by means of the Clef button in the upper-left corner of the window under the Notations tab, clicked on the clef in the score I wanted to change, and the lower staff in the score became as bass staff.

Glad you found a solution.
Midi can be wonky in Sibelius, because Sibelius is not really based on midi.
