How to edit grafically the 1st or 2nd Ending?

Sibelius beginners can discuss all things Sibelius here ("how do I...?").

Hi,

Is it possible to graphically make longer vertically the 1st or 2nd Ending?
When I enter the chords in my staff (where there are Ending symbols) the endings move up.
If yes, would appreciate it any guidance or help.
Thank you

Yes, up to a point. This is how I'd do it in Sibelius 7.5:

- Select the ending type (1st, 2nd etc) in the Lines menu on the ribbon and press the Edit Lines button om the bottom right corner.
- Then press Edit... in the bottom left
- OR define a New... line based on the standard ones if you don't want all your repeats to look like the edited one.
- For the closed ending type (usually 1st) change the Hook values on the left and right. About -5 seems to work for just chord letter symbols.
- For the open ended lines just the left Hook value should do.

Normally, I don't bother with this, and just nudge the chord symbol to the right for the line to pop back into its normal position.

Hi KJ_Palmer,

Thanks for your reply
It worked.
I could edit it and also created a new/customized 1. Ending.

Thank you
