Brass Band Template
Hi.
Haven't used Sibelius for 15+ years, and have forgotten all I once learned at school. Trying to work my way back and it's a slow process. One thing I remember is that you had ready templates or quick start scores to choose from, and it still does, but i can't seem to find a brass band template. Remember we used it back then and could start arranging or composing straight away. Is it located someplace I haven't looked? Orchestra, choir and everything else seem to be there, so it seems strange that a brass band template isn't available at the same place.
Thanks in advance.

There are several instruments missing from the database such as Cornet in Eb, Tenor Horn, Flugel Horn etc. I was hoping there was a template ready to avoid having to change the entire score with wrong instruments and transpose to be able to use the playback option properly.
If these instruments are missing, are you looking at the All Instruments list?
Band Instruments is more akin to American marching bands than brass bands.
There should be a template already set up with is a reasonnable starting point. Turn on the Quick Start dialog temporarily (I actually have it there all the time) it's listed in my version under Band-->Brass Band.

When the splash screen shows, does the word "Ultimate" appear at any point?

You've not answered our question. Do you Have Sibelius Ultimate or just plain Sibelius?
If you only have Sibelius, then you will have a restricted list of instruments.

Some time ago now, Avid re-branded their Sibelius products.
They introduced a free version which they called Sibelius First - Very, very restricted.
The re-named the old Sibelius First as Sibelius - Very limited (Crippled IMO)
They renamed Sibelius as Sibelius Ultimate - Fully featured.
If you have the latter version, it will display Sibelius Ultimate on the splash screen when it is booting up.

Avid are perfectly aware of the potential for confusion with the re-naming of Sibelius versions. They seem sympathetic to requests to move your subscription to the version you should have bought. (Not for free, of course, but you won't have to buy the whole thing twice!) Open a support case at your Avid account, or post on one of the more mainstream Sibelius groups where Avid people are listening. Like: www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/helpcenter/cha ... ?groupid=3
