Transpose guitar to sax? out of range notes?

Sibelius beginners can discuss all things Sibelius here ("how do I...?").

Suppose I have a guitar solo. Can one use Sibelius to transpose that solo so that a saxophone player could play it? What happens for notes that are out of range? Does Sibelius handle that or what is the process? Thank you in advance!

Yes you can. But it depends on what format you have the guitar solo in. if it is an audio file, it's much harder. AudioScore might transcribe an audio file to notation, but I wouldn't count on it. Once the solo is in notation, add an appropriate sax staff. Copy and paste the guitar part into the sax staff. You'll no doubt have to adjust octaves.

Yes, it would be in notation format, not an audio format, sorry I should have mentioned that. What do you mean by "adjust octaves?"

Sib will not automatically bring notes into range.

It's simple enough to spot where notes are out of range because they turn bright red. Most of the dark red ones you can leave.

Audioscore is useless. Don't give it disc room!

Okay, I see, somewhat :-)
So if I'm reading what you're saying, by simply copying and pasting the notation from a guitar staff to a sax staff, Sibelius would put the notes where they belong for a sax player, and it would also highlight notes that are out of range of the sax in red. Is that correct?

Yes. Alternatively, there is a function called Change Instrument to do the same thing without the need to add a new staff.

Yes. If you want to keep both instruments use my method. If not, use KJ_Palmer's.
