How can I move Bar 6 back to the last bar of my first stave, as in my paper copy?

You can select the barline at the end of bar 5 and press [return] (The big key on the main keyboard, not the smaller one on the keypad) This will toggle line breaks unless you have autobreaks turned on.

I'm not sure how good an idea is, given that the top line looks comfortable and I think the extra bar will make it look too tight.

If you absolutely MUST do this, then make the staff size a tad smaller as well and use [ctrl/cmd][shift]n to properly justify the staff.

You could also reduce the left and right margins slightly if you don't want to make the staff smaller and also use the Part view (select a bar and press w) to set this out like a proper part. Any layout changes in the score will not affect the part and vice versa. I seem to remember having this conversation before! :D

Mike, my apologies - I should have been patient. When I switched to Clarinet part Sibelius recognised the two-bar rest and Bar 6 came back to the top line, as in the paper copy. Thank you anyway for the response.
