SIBELIUS FIRST in "Review Mode" Telling me to log in to Avid Link

Sibelius beginners can discuss all things Sibelius here ("how do I...?").

Hi,

Really basic this!

Have moved some files (created using SIBELIUS 6) from an old laptop onto my new MacBook Pro where I have installed SIBELIUS First and Avid Link.

I have opened one of the files and the bar across the top is saying: "Review Mode" You need to be logged into Avid Link to use Sibelius First. Indeed, I can do nothing to file except view it!

As far as I can see, however, I AM logged into Avid Link. My initials are in the top left-hand corner of the Avid Link screen and I have just been into my "Bio" and added/saved a few details....surely I wouldn't be able to do this if I wasn't logged in???

Instinct would tell me to log OUT of the Avid and log back in, but I cannot for the life of me find a way to log out/log in on Avid Link.

Please can anyone help?

If your files contain more than (I think) 4 staves Sib First will NOT allow you to edit them.
Sib 6.2, 7.5 and 2023.6, Windows 11, 32GB RAM, 16TB 7200RPM Storage, 2TB SSD, Note Performer 3.3.2, EWQLSO, EWQLSC, Harmony Assistant and some others. mike@mike-lyons.co.uk

Thanks for responding Mike. No this is not the case! They are just single stave fragments (bits of melody)...

I had the same problem and had to restart my computer. Funny thing was, I was actually opening Sibelius from within Avid Link in the first place!

Same problem, no solution. I followed the runes - stopped both avid and sibelius, start avid, check the product is there, log in, wait for synchronisation, then try start SF. Did it several times, rebooted the computer between times (as suggested by ronald roy). Still insists on starting in review mode. Any ideas anyone?

I'd switch to Musescore 3. Free, no silly authorisation issues, and more powerful than Sibelius First! And Musescore 4 is on the way. I've given up recommending Sib First because it's so cut down - almost useless IMHO.

And when you want to upgrade from Musescore to Sibelius Ultimate, if you should need to, a lot of the modus operandi and keystrokes are the same.

Just done exactly that - so far so good - cheers, W.
