Piano Portato?

Sibelius beginners can discuss all things Sibelius here ("how do I...?").

Studying Debussy, Jimbo's Lullaby and in Bar 9 there is what I am told is a "Portato" symbol.

1. Does Sibelius software offer this symbol as a choice somewhere?
2. If so, when it is used in a piano piece, will it play back correctly within Sibelius?

Thank you. (Novice piano guy and novice Sibelius guy . . . sorry if this is a goofy question)

You create it exactly as it looks. Put in the staccato dots and then add the slur. I'd call it 'half staccato' or 'semi staccato'.

As for playback, I've not tried it. I only ever use Sib's playback as a proof reading tool to ensure that notes and timing are what I want. So input it as I've described ad find out! :)

Hi Andy,

Think it worked. Tried it and I believe I am hearing a difference.

Thanks a lot.
