Activate trial version

We have installed a trial version of Ultimate in order to check it out, having previously used a very old version (Sibelius 2, I believe). Have upgraded to latest versions of Ultimate and AvidLink. Ultimate is showing as 'Active'. However, when we try to run it, a window pops up asking us either to activate a license or to buy a license. Have been round in loops for several hours trying to find out why the trial status is not recognised, but have failed to make progress. Can you help?
We don't have an ActivationID, of course, so the official Avid forum is not accessible.
