Hello all,

I am trying to add quarter notes to a measure that has half notes (piano). It won't let me do that. I'm sure it's easy. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Depending on range, select the first minim, press 1 from the top row of the keyboard, press [alt/opt]2, press 4 on the numpad. You should now have your minims in voice 1 with your crotchet in voice 2 and waiting for new input.

If the minims are lower, select then and press [alt/opt]2 select the first one and press 1 on the top row, press [alt/opt]1 press numpad 4.

If you get it the wrong way round, don't worry. Just continue until the 2nd part is all in then press [shift]v, which will swap the voices round.

And have a good read through 'Working with Voices' in the Reference Manual, which explains things more fully than we can here.

I always input upper notes (Voice 1) first, maybe a line or a few bars at a time, then go back and input lower notes (Voice 2). For complex voicings you may need Voices 3 and 4 - I did last week - and that's where that Manual will make things clearer.
