PDF probing problems

I have discovered an unnerving anomaly. In my recent work, p (for soft) looks fine and prints fine in Sibelius. When I convert it to a PDF, it still looks perfect, but it prints incorrectly – the vertical line of the letter (the extender) is missing. It looks like a printer problem, but it's actually a software glitch, I think. Has anyone else found this? Is there any light that can be shed on the problem? It's disturbing that music I've sent out cannot be printed properly, unless it really is just my printer. Thoughts?
