splitting joint score parts

I'm writing a marching band score in which many of the score parts are trumpet 1,2 and flute 1,2 etc. Is there a simple way of separating the staff into two separate parts without changing the score, perhaps by having voice 1 in one part and voice 2 in the other. I'm using sibelius 7. Thanks in advance!

Look through the Filters in the Ribbon. I don't remember for sure, but you can use a filter to select the lower notes (second part) and change it to voice two by either selecting voice two in the input pad, or within the filter. You may have to tidy up places where parts share a note. Any way what you want can be done. So part one will have stems up and part two will have stems down. So the score is altered as far as that goes.

My apologies, I don't think I was clear enough with my question. What I want is for the score window to display, for example, 1 staff for flutes 1 and 2. However, I want to create parts for printing which separate flutes 1 and 2 onto separate sheets of paper. I hope this makes it a bit clearer.

I can think of a couple of solutions, neither completely satisfactory.

1. You can EXTRACT the combined flutes part, then do what you need to do to it (i.e making two separate parts for Fl.1 and Fl.2). Obviously you thereby break the link between score and parts. So if you update the music, you'll need to do both the score and the separated parts. This may not be such a big deal if you are not anticipating that the music will need to be updated, or if you learned your Sibelius when extraction was what you had to do anyway, before Dynamic Parts were invented.

2. You can create two new staves (Fl.1 and Fl.2) in your score, and edit them as you like, keeping the combined stave too. Don't print the combined part, just the separate ones. Now, if you need to update the music, you'll still need to update both the combined part and the separated parts within the score, but at least they are all on the same page. In order for your score to appear to remain the same, you can select all the music in the new separate staves, and make it "Show in Parts" [but not in Score], and then use Hide Empty Staves on them.

thanks Steve, option 2 seems to be the best option :)
