change time

good evening, how do I change the chorus only (4/4) and leave the orchestra at 12/8? thank you.

Do you mean have 4/4 and 12/8 at the same time?

Use triplets with hidden number/bracket and fake the time signatures where necessary with Time Signature one staff only on each staff that needs it.

And ask yourself if you really need to to this at all!

Or is the chorus incapable of reading music in compound time! :wink:

In the Johannes Passion of Bach there is an air where the bass alone, the organ and continuo are in 12/8 and the chorus is in 4/4

It would be interesting to see if Bach really wrote it that way, or if some later arranger took the liberty to do that. I suspect the latter. Ask yourself what is more accurate.
