Currently composing a large orchestral piece which requires B.D, S.D and Cymbals all playing at the same time. In percussion these parts are often put on the same stave, listed as 'Percussion 1', to save space.

Is there any way to get multiple instruments on one stave at the same time appearing like voices, or would I need to have a stave for each instrument, and then combine them in the 'Parts' menu into one large part?

In case I explained it badly, this is what I mean, where each instrument (snare, bass and cymbal all have a separate line).

Thanks in advance.

Set BD and Snare to voice 2 and Cym to voice 1
Use the correct noteheads and lines/spaces as set out in the drum map for the drum set you are using. (Normally snare and bass are notehead 0, Cym is notehead 1.)

Sorry if I misexplained it, but I meant orchestral bass, snare and cymbals, not drum set.

You can set up a staff and notate it just like your example. You'll need to input notes using different voices from the input pad.
But it won't playback correctly. If you need correct play back you need to do something like Mike suggested.

In order for your sounds to playback, they must
a) Be all from the same percussion 'patch'
b) Have a notehead type associated with that sound in the drum map

You can't have the same notehead type on the same line. If you do, only the first one will be recognised
