Hi, how do I enter tuplets like this, with three sixteenth notes followed by one eigth note? Thanks.

Write the first sixteenth.
While it's still selected, hit Ctrl-3 (or Cmd-3)
This turns it into a triplet. Then just fill the other notes in.

Thanks for the response but it doesn't work for me, the eighth note isn't attached to the others.
Edit: playing around with the triplet pull down menu, I found that if I select quintuplet I can input three sixteenth notes and then one eight note.

If you do that, you will not be able to fill the bar. There is a setting in Appearance -> Reset beam groups to separate tuplets from main beams. It is on by default. Untick the box. I think it's also available through the TS dialog.
