When there is a key signature change followed by a double bar at the end of the system, there is extra space after the double bar. I am not sure if I explained that clearly. I am sending an attachment showing the problem.

Thanks.

1) remove the double barline that you have inserted at the end of the system
2) insert the new key signature at the start of the next system

Sibelius will now correctly insert a double bar line with the cautionary key signature to the right of it, rather than the left as shown in your image. The end of the system should be left open.

Thanks for your suggestions. This was a clarinet part from a score and I had made some changes to layout including bars in a system around that bar. When I tried your suggestion it was a mess.

Then I exported the file and I was able to do as you suggested.

Select the bar with the semibreve and press [ctrl][shift]n. This will reset the spacing and put the KS in the correct position.

Thanks. I was hoping that was the answer, but no. Nothing happened.

OK. Is there another, hidden stave with a different transposition (and therefore a different key sign at the change) on this page?

With these kinds of problem it is better to send the actual sib file. Otherwise, all we are doing is guessing.

If you zip the sib file you can post it here.

Thanks so much. I am attaching the file. The problem occurs in the clarinet 1 part at bar #95.

Again, thanks.

And now I see that in both trumpet parts that the key signature change in bar 95 is on the wrong side of the barline.

Are these oddities perhaps because I imported the XML file from an old finale file?

Thank

Hi,

What version of Sibelius are you using? When I open the file, the key changes appear in the correct place but the spacing is a little strange. [ctrl/cmd][shift]n sorts out the problem, as it should.

After you import an xml file, you should immediately do the following:

Unlock formatting - [ctrl/cmd][shift]u
Reset note spacing - [ctrl/cmd][shift]n
Delete all the parts - Parts --> Delete Parts --> select all the parts in the list [OK]
Click New Part and answer Yes to the dialog. A new, hopefully unblemished, set of parts will be created from the score with the default settings from your House Style/Template.

I notice you are allowing Sibelius to format the parts using auto breaks? IMHO, this is a bad idea. Use Part Appearance -->All Parts to set up all the parts at once with your favourite margin settings, page size, staff size and turn off auto breaks unless the style of music (eg lead sheet) requires 4 or 5 bars per line. Any parts that need a separate format can be done individually once the majority have been formatted.

Hope this helps.

2018.7

You are a Sibelius god! I really haven't had to import that many xml files and just jumped in and started looking for things that needed to be changed. I imagine all those steps you listed are in the 'manual'.

I appreciate all of the time that you took to look at my score and provide such a detailed reply.

Thanks.
