Appoggiatura too close

Hi folks,

Sibelius puts the appoggiatura (grace note) too close for my taste. I can drag them around, but is there a more general way to fix this? Thanks. Peter

Appearance>House Style>Note Spacing Rule has a couple of options you can try out.

Thanks Andy, that did the trick!!!

Is there a way to re-edit my many already existing grace notes, adjusted by hand?

You could apply Reset Note Spacing (also under Appearance). You might want to be careful if you apply this to the whole score as it may move other things around too much.

It seems that Sib7 doesn't remember my settings and returns to default after start up. How to fix?

Your settings will only apply to the score you changed them in, and should have been retained for good when you saved it.

To re-use the same settings on other scores you can save them with Appearance > House Style > Export, and Import them to a new score.

There are some options in Import that you can tick/untick (including Note spacing) if you don't want them all.

Really? That's not so great...

Not so great? Not a problem - jut re-read the post above. You can export a House Style with those settings and import it to (or rather impose it on) other scores.

And you can create a Manuscript Paper with the changes to the settings in it, that you can then use to create new scores.

I usually overwrite old documents, that's why.

If you create a MSS paper (export Manuscript paper) from a file that has all your changes and also export a house style (Appearance->House Style->Export) you can preserve your settings by using the MSS paper as a starting point (it will appear on the Quick Start Screen and in the New dialog) Choose it to start new pieces.

You can create as many templates for different ensembles as you like in this way that can be re-used and won't be erased when you save.

Thanks, I'll consider that!
