The search function filters for various things, but it doesn't seem to be of any use if one wants to search for a specific note pattern. (melody). Is this possible in Sibelius? Thanks.

There is a plugin called Find Motive. it's an old plugin and, truth be told, I'm not at all sure how accurate it is, but it might be worth a try.

You'll have to look for it. If you have any version from 7.5 you can use File-->Plugins-->Install Plugins
