Hello,
I have edited the unpitched instrument ¨congas 3 lines¨ following tutorials (I created a new instrument based on 3 congas instrument, then I customised noteheads, midi sound associated with each new notehead) but the problem is that the notes are not sounding in midi playback. I went to ¨preferences¨ and changed Percussion settings but still not working and I cannot hear the midi playback in the customised instrument.
If anyone can help I'd be most grateful.

What do you mean by Midi? You can edit Sibelius sounds which are not midi. After you create your instrument make sure to save it properly, as per the manual, and it should be added to the instrument list. Don't just close the edit window.

Have you allocated your noteheads to sounds in the edit instrument dialog?
