Is This Possible?

Post by sus4 » Sun Jan 26, 2020 9:42 pm

I want to put rhythmical figures at the top of a page as a reference. No staff, just slash marks, like 1/8 or 1/4 notes on the blank part of the paper. Is this possible? Thanks.

Put it on a normal staff using the slash with/out stems as you need.
Change the instrument to no instrument(hidden) which has no barlines or rests.

Is the attached what you are after?

Exactly. You nailed it again Mike. Thanks. Sorry Mike I thought I knew this. How do I change the instrument from instrument to no instrument (hidden)?

On Sib 7.5 and above

Home-->Change-->Others-->No Instrument(hidden) Click in the LEFT margin BEFORE the instrument name.

OK, got it Mike. Now what I would like to do is paste or drag the slash figures to the upper right hand corner of the page (blank part), Is that possible? I tried and can't seem to do it. Thats where I really want it. If this can't be done, is there any other way of doing this like maybe using the comment feature there? Thanks.

I don't understand what you want. Can you please explain the purpose of this? What are yougoing to do with it once it is positioned in the top RH corner?

Mike let me explain it to you this way. If I have a regular song sheet (a piece of paper)I can write anything I want on it with a pen or pencil any place on the sheet....right?. If I want to remember something about a specific measure I can write something with a pen or pencil above that measure or in the margin....right? If I want to remember a rhythmic figure I can write it at the top of the page with a pencil. I want to be able to do the exact same thing in Sibelius.....if It's possible. Writing the words in Sibelius is easy, but writing a rhythmic figure on a blank part of the sheet isn't so easy, for me. That's where I have the problem. I hope this explains it clearly to you. Thanks.

Ok. I think I understand. If I may say, though, that's what Ideas are for. See attached and also page 179 of the sib manual.
