Hi,

I am using Sibelius Ultimate 2020.3 on an iMac.

I have given myself an exercise: I am copying the entire score of Palladio by Karl Jenkins to learn how to use Sibelius properly. I am using a YouTube video (https://youtu.be/32Ag0dBGbvc) as a reference to the original score while typesetting it. I finished copying section A, bars 1-18.

I am wondering how I would go about doing section C:

In section C,

Vl. I

splits into

Vl. 1 Solo
Vl. I

and

Vl. II

splits into

Vl. 2 Solo
Vl. II

They then later regroup together again.

So, it is almost like an ossia staff for the solo player, but it has to be the same size as the main staff.

What would be the proper way to do this?

Here is a Dropbox link where you can find a screenshot of section C along with the Sibelius file I am working on:

I would appreciate any help you could provide. Thanks in advance!

I believe the way to do this is to have a Vl.1 part and a separate Vl.1 solo part. Same with Vl.2. Then try to make the section that has all 4 parts occur on the same page(or multiple pages if there are many bars). You then hide the empty staves throughout the score.

Thanks Frederick! I'll try that.
