Hi -- I have a bar of 2/4 followed by a bar of 3/4 that I want to combine into a bar of 5/4. I can't seem to find a way to do this, but surely there must be?

Also, is there any way to get Sibelius to stop adding rests when I change a time signature for a particular bar? This is the opposite of the first question: If I have a bar of 5/4 and want to break it down into two bars, 2/4 and 3/4.

Any help much appreciated!

Before I answer this, I need to know what version/tier of Sibelius you have. Sibelius First and plain Sibelius cannot do this.
Any version of Sib before the introduction of Sibelius Ultimate (Sib 5/6/7etc.) and Ultimate itself can do this.

In Sib ultimate there is a button on the Home tab of the ribbon called Join. If you select the two bars and press this, it will create a single bar with 5 beats. Then add the TS by pressing t and creating a 5/4 sig for that bar.

Next to that button you will find one called Split. Select the note before which you want the barline to be placed and follow through the dialog.

In Sib 6 it is in the form of a plugin.

Fantastic! I have Sib Ultimate, so it's easy. My mistake was, I kept searching for "combine" rather than "join." A.I. has a long way to go in understanding synonyms!

Thanks again for your help...

John
