Windows 10, Sibelius Ultimate, M-Audio Oxygen49 MIDI Controller Keyboard.

I am transcribing a (paper) notebook of ideas, motifs, fragments and short pieces into Sibelius.

Each segment has its own tempo. (Maybe a dozen short themes have been recorded into Sibelius at this point)

For the current fragment I have set the Metronome Mark to quarter note = 60. Its a different tempo from the previous fragment.

I have set all the Flexi-time options.

When I hit record, the metronome's count-in tempo is faster than the 60 BPM. It's not double or any related multiple: its just faster. After the two bars, it reverts to the correct 60 BPM. This makes it difficult to start recording in time with the metronome because it abruptly changes after the two bar count-in.

The only "help" I could find say something about "Scale Tempo". Sibelius Ultimate seems not to have that.

Without seeing the score, we can only guess what is going wrong.

My first thought is that your tempo mark is attached to the wrong place or that the slider in the transport panel is not in the middle.

Check the tempo showing in the transport panel to see if it shows 60. Also, if the previous piece is faster (or slower) the count-in will be at that tempo, not the new tempo. If you think about it, that's logical.

Your last hint, about the previous tempo being faster, is the cause. What I have done to fix it is to put a one-measure buffer before the new piece and set the new tempo in that measure. Now, the count-off tempo is correct.

Thank you MikeLyons.

Of course, you could just move the new tempo marking back a couple of bars, temporarily...?
