Hi All,

I am currently trying to add lyrics to a song in Sibelius. I click on the note, but there is no flashing cursor. If I double click then I can insert a word, but when I press the space bar and try to insert another word it inserts symbols or line or even ties/slurs.

I found this form another post and hopefully this describes the problem better:
"If I double click on the arrow it then allows me to input text. However, as soon as I press the space bar or want to carry on to the next note, it automatically prevents me from inputting anything, meaning I'd have to click on the next note and repeat the same steps".

I've updated my Mac to Big Sur and running Sibelius Ultimate 8.5.

Anybody that could help, please?

Sib 8.5 is not compatible with Big Sur.

You have 3 options:
1) Downgrade to an older version of Mac OS and stick with it for as long as you want to run Sib 8.5
2) Bite the expensive bullet and buy a subscription to the latest version of Sibelius Ultimate - NOT plain Sibelius or Sibelius First!!
3) Switch to a Windows 10 PC which will run almost any version of Sibelius from about V5 onwards.

Nothing else is possible and there are no work-arounds.

I have the same problem, not being able to inout lyrics or expressions marks, having just upgraded to Big Sur. Will the problem be solved by downgrading my Mac down to Catalina?

It depends on your current version of Sibelius. Particularly if you have Sib 7.x Even on Catalina you woun't be easily able to reinstall/re-register your copy. You'll need to go here - https://avid.secure.force.com/Support/R ... seCreation
Sib 6.2, 7.5 and 2023.6, Windows 11, 32GB RAM, 16TB 7200RPM Storage, 2TB SSD, Note Performer 3.3.2, EWQLSO, EWQLSC, Harmony Assistant and some others. mike@mike-lyons.co.uk

Sib. 8.2.0 build 83
I'm on Ventura 13.4 on a Mac Mini M2.
I find some behaviors odd like when switching the ribbon menus, the music sheet would disappear. Regarding entering lyrics, after hitting a space when completing the current word, it see it jumps to the next word w/ the dashed line, but if i start typeing it would enter the note. Instead, if i hit enter then the vertical bar cursor would appear and I can type the next word. So for now I adapt to sequence of typing a word, space, enter before entering the next word.....

Apple's updates to operating systems mean that your version of Sibelius 8.2 will never work properly.

You have three options:

1) upgrade to the latest version of Sibelius Ultimate
2) revert to a much older Mac Operating System - if that's even possible for your Mac Mini M2
3) buy a Windows laptop and dedicate it to running Sibelius 8.2

Blame Apple, not Sibelius, Windows 11 will run Sibelius versions back as far as 5!

Yes, the same problem. You'll have to upgrade to the latest version. Blame Apple, not Sibelius.

Expensive, and we often recommend buying a refurbished Windows laptop and dedicating it solely to Sibelius - it will probably be cheaper and just as good! Windows 10 and 11 will run much older Sibelius versions than yours!
