I'm copying parts from an old paper score for Bb clarinet and alto sax. My Bb clarinet part shows no Key Signature so I presume it is in C major and the Eb alto sax part sin the key of G. How to do set this up before I start, please.
I could have sworn I had written an answer to this question earlier today! Those bloody groundhogs get everywhere.
As Andy said (and I said) Create a Bb Clarinet staff and an alto sax staff from the Instruments menu and then make sure transposing score is switched on. (image)

Thanks Andy and Mike, I will give that a go.

I've been busy practicing for the return of band practice and only now managed to attempt to do what I wanted. I set up a new score, added a Bb Clarinet and Alto Sax. I switched on transposing score and now want the AltoSax in the Key of G and the Bb clarinet in C (no sharps or flats showing) - I can't seem to get it to do that?
What am I doing wrong?
Sorry - Sorry - Sorry
I've just fixed it!!!
However, I've a new problem. The alto sax part shows a note with a solo melody note above it. How do I do this without Sibelius deleting the first note I place?

Use voices. Set the higher part in voce 1 and the lower in voice 2.

Mike, thank you - I've been playing around with voices and see the value of them, especially with the short section I am trying to create. Attached is the only part I am struggling with. No matter what I try, problems arise - in particular when the first two notes Bar 11 won't sit above each other and then placing the other notes as shown. I think the first quaver, quaver rest and crochet rests and part of one voice and if I am correct, why doesn't the other notes Voice 2 work.

Maybe this will help?
It is always a good idea to get your voice 1 notes in first then add the voice 2 ones. Notes and rests above the line are in voice 1, those below it in voice 2 (even though the rests aren't coloured, they too are voiced.)

As always, thanks. That worked quite easily.
How do I place bar numbers to the bottom of my bottom stave if I have both Clarinet and Sax parts?

I would have to ask why? This convention is found in film music, not proper stuff!

I guess, its because the numbering looks lost among the notes but I can live with it.
There's a setting under engraving rules - bottom right of bar numbers dialog. Choose under bottom of staff. You can set every bar by using appearance- frequency at the top left of the Same dialog.

Mike, I've complete the parts I was working on in Sibelius and it looks and sounds great. Normally, when I want to play along to Sibelius on my clarinet, I export the file to a video or audio file and play along from my smart phone. In order that I can play along to the Sibelius file on my MacBook, in the proper key, do I need to switch off transposing to get the correct key?
No. What you are hearing is the actual pitch. Switching Transposing score on and off only changes the display, not the sound. However, if you are playing along, reading from the screen, you need Transposing score switched ON. If you are playing from a paper copy, the screen display doesn't matter.

Mike, this is great. I was practicing the 2nd clarinet part at home with no melody to help. The Alto sax part provides the melody and today I had some valuable practice. The band are receiving Queens award for services to our community. We are also performing on the day to a small audience. I want to play confidently.
