I continue to have issues with staff spacing although I have used Sibelius for many years. I understand the "Staff Spacing" in the ribbon at the top and it does OK, but sometimes just as you think you get it right, the bottom staff jumps off the bottom of the page. It moves smoothly and then all of a sudden it jumps so that it is too low on the page and the bottom line won't print. I also understand how you can push "shift" and them select the staff and move it. This does pretty good, but the staff will not move past a certain point for some reason. What blocks the staff from moving past a certain spot? Is there a setting somewhere that allows me more flexibility to move the staff exactly where I want it, so that nothing is blocking it from moving any farther.

Hi Grant,

It's all about the justification.

Thank-you. This helps, but whether this is set to 0 or 100, the staff still is blocked from moving it where I want it when I use the sift key to move a staff. Is there a way to unblock this?

Grant

I don't really understand your requirements. Have you checked your margin settings? Staff margins and Page margins. Setting the justification to 100% should allow you to move staves, vertically, almost anywhere on the page.

My requirements are to move a staff where I want to. Setting it at 100% still doesn’t allow me to move a staff anywhere I want to. There is still something blocking it. I can’t find what it is. I’m sure it is not a margin setting. I have not yet experimented with other settings. Could the “magnet” settings, or the space between staves be blocking the movement?

If you have very large staff spacing this could absolutely cause issues. Can you show me an example of your settings dialogs?
