Sibelius Version: 2021.12

I've just moved to a more up-to-date version of Sibelius (2021.12) from 6.1

On the older 6.1 version I was using a control surface to operate the mixer. It's just convenient to use the same control surface for Sibelius that I use for the DAW (Cakewalk). It's mostly Solo-ing instruments.

It didn't work. I resurrected 6.1 and checked that I was using the same MIDI input to Sibelius and the same Input Map (O2.xml). It all checked out and worked. So back to 2021.12 and it doesn't work.

While I was fiddling around trying to get the MIDI routings correct, I saw a post claiming that input maps had been broken since 7.x. Unfortunately I didn't note where I saw the post.

Can anyone confirm if it's broken? Or more importantly if there's any way to make it work? Otherwise I don't want to waste any more time on it if it stands no chance of working.

Thanks

This might be of interest. https://www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/helpce ... 0map&name=
Thank you. I had seen and read that thread. I am familiar with XML and I did find the folder, copy a provided file and used it in Sibelius.

This all worked fine in Sibelius 6 but the exact same set-up doesn't work in the version I've just upgraded to (2021.12). MIDI notes get through so I can, for example, enter notes into the stave; but the MIDI events that Sibelius' XML input map maps to the mixer controls don't get through.

Just as a sanity check, using the same XML input map file, I tried mapping a button on the control surface to Sibelius' Start transport/playback. (I don't need this as I am happy with the spacebar or the P key; it's picking up the mouse to select Solo that I'm trying to avoid.) Unlike the mixer's solo function, this worked in both Sibelius 6 and in the 2021.12 version – the control surface button started playback in either Sibelius.

This is one of those topics that might be better discussed on the official Sibelius forum at :https://www.sibelius.com/cgi-bin/helpce ... &groupid=3. I have little experience of this way of working, but there are peopl eon there who can be of much more help with this.

OK, thanks. I'd kind of assumed given the look of it, that the other forum was defunct. I see I was wrong.

You've prompted me to do a proper search over there. And I've found the post(s) discussing how input maps have been broken since 7.1

So I can give up spending any more time on this.

(And I can't believe that after all these years, I didn't know that the P keyboard shortcut solos the instrument if you've selected a bar rather than a single note  )

I'm not being rude, but all of this is explained in the manual.
