I have bought and installed ultimate. Sib 7.5 is still on my macbookpro, monterrey, I open "ultimate" but somehow , at some point, 7.5 tells me I can't save, since 7.5 is not activated. How can I get rid of 7.5? Of course it won't open on the 64 bit machine, so I can't deactivate it. Any help would be much appreciated. On a side issue, Avid is incredibly unresponsive to my problwm. Thanks.

Steven

Firstly, there is no such thing as Sib Ultimate 7.5.

Sibelius did not start using the Ultimate designation until after Sib 8.x. No version before 2021.12 will run on Monterey.

AFAIK, your best option is to downgrade the OS to an earlier version (Yosemite or Mavericks) and uninstall from there. Sib 7.5 will NEVER run on later versions of Mac OS.

You will need to upgrade to Sibelius Ultimate 2021.12. A word of caution - do NOT be tempted to go for plain Sibelius. That would be a serious downgrade of what your Sib 7 could do.

I think Mike has mis-read your opening sentence.

Your problem seems to be with activation and de-activation. As older versions cannot be activated or de-activated on line, you'll have to create a case with Avid.

You could always ask on the official Sibelius forum rather than here, and you could always email one of Avid's staff members who are always monitoring their own forum. Ingrid Guce and Justin Tokke are the people to contact, you'll find their email addresses over there!

thank you. I've spent many hours and many emails with Justin, and still the problem remains. Thank you.

Steven

At this point I'm contemplating prospecting for graphite, opening a mine, growing trees, cutting them down, learning to make a pencil, learning to make paper, and writing music by hand. That would be easier than trying to get Sib ultimate to work properly (or as well as Sib 1 used to.)

Sorry for the misunderstanding!

Your best bet is to trash sib 7.5 using the MacOS. It will never run on Monterey. This is NOT (for once) Avid's fault. It is entirely down to apple [spit]!

As Andy says, contact Justin or Ingrid to deregister the 7.5. At this point, you couldn't do it yourself anyway. I might be tempted to say uninstall Ultimate and start afresh. Make sure you have the latest version of Avid Link. (The old sib Avid Licence control will only mess things up.)

I wish you the very best of luck with it.
