ulrimate - upgrade
I still don't understand what the two Sibelius (see arrows) mean. Do I have two different systems? Do I need these two versions? Could I do without «Sibelius Ultimate» and only work with «Sibelius 7.1 Upgrade System»? I would be very happy if you could explain this to me.

If you had Sib 7 installed on your machine there is a license for it in Avid link. Do not uninstall Ultimate. Ultimate is your friend. Just ignore the other one. This is especially true if you are a mac user as 7 will not run on a new mac. As you can see, I have 3 in my list and aso 6.2 (though that doesn't show here) which I use for helping folks with earlier versions.

I'm snookered!
I cannot afford the move to Ultimate with my new Mac M1 processor. Are there any other reasonably priced software options that I can move to. I'm not an arranger any sort and basically, all I've used 7.5 on my sons laptop for was converting old clarinet music from band to digital to create a fresh print.
Any ideas?

Cheapest option if you want to remain with Sibelius is to buy a refurbished Windows laptop. Win 10 and 11 will still run just about any version of Sibelius. Keystrokes are almost identical.
Failing that, switch to the free, but very good, Musescore 3 (assuming Apple haven't screwed up that app with their latest O/S and M1 chip combo!) From what you say, it should be all you need. It's free, so why not try it. Many of the keystrokes are copied from Sibelius, so the learning curve won't be too steep.

According to your screenshot, you already have a fully working copy of Ultimate installed and activated.

Ah, I see, you're on a subscription. Just stop paying and it'll stop working.
As to Sib 7.5, so much depends on the choices you made when installing the Ultimate. I didn't fall into the subscription trap, but I should imagine that, if you deactivate the Ultimate installation and then uninstall it, you should be able to use the offline activation system to activate your Sib 7.5 perpetual licence. However, I seem to remember there was something about giving up your perpetual licence altogether when you went on the subscription model. Maybe your best bet would be to email ingrid.guce@avid.com or justin.tokke@avid.com directly, explaining the situation.

I can buy a perpetual licence for Sibelius. It is simple called Sibelius, is it worth buying at £145
Absolutely not. Anything less than Ultimate will be a serious, and I do mean serious, downgrade from 7. They have so seriously crippled the software at this tier that it is practically useless.

I'd say that was a good call! Can you still crossgrade to Dorico? If you can do, that would be a good option.

I'm going to have to consider moving platforms if I want to maintain my music library. I find it a useful exercise transferring old clarinet pieces to digital for several reasons. You can listen to the audio output and improve your play, you can view the files on an iPad and this can be useful when practicing away from home. Finally, it is nice to have a fresh printed copy for band practice.I'd like to ask if Dorico SE a viable option moving forward, I don't plan on trying to convert them across from Sibelius as I have exported everything to date to pdf.
