Don't know what changed, but when I highlighted a measure and pressed Comm + K I was able to write in my chord names like C7 etc. Not anymore. Something changed, don't know what. Need this feature very much.

1 What version of sib are you running?
What macos/windows version are you running it on?
Have you allowed push updates on the mac?

I"m running Sib. v 8.4.2. Mac v 12.4. Monterey. This is a brand new Mac mini I just got two weeks ago and I've been running Sib. with no problems although I've haven't been doing any writing that would require me to use Comm+K to enter chords.

Sib 8.x is absolutely not compatible with the latest MacOS. There are odd incompatibilities that make working the two together uncomfortable at best and impossible at worst. This is due tio changes to apple's OS. Sib 8.x is now very old and it simply is not supported. Your only option is to upgrade to athe newest version of Sib.

A cheaper option would probably be to buy a cheap/reconditioned Mac with an older OS (no later than 10.13) and prevent it from doing updates automatically (certain push updates cause sibelius to completely stop working). Sibelius 8 will still work perfectly well on Windows, In fact, I'm running Sib 6.2 quite happily and I've heard of people running Sib 4 on Win 10.

Mike, I think you're right. I'm considering upgrading Sibelius. When I upgraded my Mac I totally forgot about compatibility . Thanks for you reply.

Even cheaper to get a refurbished Windows laptop with Win 10 or Win 11, and dedicate it just to Sibelius. No worries about push updates fouling things up! I paid just £220 for a very good spec Dell laptop last year.

That's worth knowing, Andy. What did you get and from where?

On Ebay. Can't tell you the seller, sorry, as my son (who is a highly qualified IT guy) sourced it for me. It's a Dell Latitude 5480. Before that, he found me a top of the range HP Elitebook with a docking station for just £300 - Ebay again. That one's been hammered over several years so will probably be replaced this year with another refurb. Dell or HP, most likely.

I trust his judgement, he'll look at the specs and find the best one for the best price!
