How do I put in 2 whole notes in a measure with the 3 straight lines between them to form a tremelo with the 2 D whole notes?

You need to use the 2nd keypad layout. The tremolando is there, on the enter key. Put two minims into the bar. Click on the first snd add the 3-line tremolo, then click on/press the enter key on the keypad. If you have done it correctly, the minims will turn into semibreves, with the tremolando between.
