Hi there,

I need to import files from friends who use MuseScore but I'm getting an error. "This MusicXML file uses a newer version of MusicXML than Sibelius can import..." I've gotten this error in the past and have always been able to click yes to import it anyway with no issue. Now when I get the error, the Importing XML file pop up appears over top of the error message so I can't click yes. The file won't start importing until I click yes, and I can't click yes without canceling the import.

Has anyone seen this issue and gotten around it? Or does anyone know how to get MuseScore to export to an XML format that Sibelius will accept? I've tried all the XML versions available and get the same error.

I'm using Sibelius Ultimate 2020.6 and MuseScore version 4.

Thanks!

It happens a lot. Just ignore the error by clicking OK and it will continue processing the file.

The problem is that the Importing MusicXML file dialog box is blocking me from clicking OK on the other error message. The only option is Cancel, and then when I press Yes it never loads because I've already canceled the import.

Unfortunately, I'm in Swansea at the moment and, as the shirkers at avid haven't produced an android version yet, I can't access sibelius right now. I'll have another look on Monday. I'll be too knackered after the five hour drive back tomorrow.

Off the top of my head, though, if there's a Yes button, there's usually a No button as well... what happens if you press [esc]?
