Dear All,

Following is a list of option that strikes my mind; but I am not sure what to follow, please guide me on selecting one of the below process.

1. Covert MP3 to MIDI and further import MIDI to Sibelius
2. Manually listening to MP3 and write hand written composition in the manuscript and directly invoke scores in to Sibelius.

Or is there any plug-in that can help Sibelius to import MP3 as sheet music?

What would be the basic method to generate a MP3 file as a Sheet music in Sibelius format.

Any help would be grateful!

Thanks,
Rocky

I know of no software which will do all the work in converting an mp3 into notation, though there are some which get closer than others. In particular there are some programs which will convert some of the sounds to notation and then allow you to slow down the mp3 (without changing pitch) to make it easier to transcribe.

There is nothing in Sibelius which will make a direct transcription. The only aid to this is that you can import an mp3 into Sibelius and play it along as you transcribe (and check that you've got it right). It may not be as easy to do it this way, compared with some specialist wav-to-MIDI programs, but if the mp3 is fairly simple and you have a good ear it can be done at least to a reasonable standard.

Before you start anything, make sure the Tempo Slider in the Transport Window is in its central position. You can then set an initial tempo with a plug-in (Plugins > Other > Set Metronome Mark) but only while playing the mp3 in some other application. (You can make fine adjustments to tempo later with Plugins >Composing Tools > Fit Selection to Time ).

Unfortunately you can't use the Tempo Slider to slow down the mp3 - it changes the pitch - but sometimes it helps to slow it down just to get some of the details of the rhythm right. Very tricky high passages can sometimes be transcribed at half tempo (when the pitch is an octave lower).

You use Play > Video and time > Add Video to add a sound file (note the All Files setting below). Whenever you play, the mp3 will play from the same point; it has its own volume slider and you can turn it off or nearly off the hear if what you've written sounds OK.

Answered the same question in your other post. No need for multiple posts, just one will be picked up on!

Any ideas what's wrong?? There don't seem to be any settings for this feature.

I'm hearing the metronome, so apparently audio is working..... The mp3 plays fine via quicktime, just not from within sibelius. I am also getting audio through ASIO in other programs.

Thanks,
