Midi Input

I am trying to input midi into sibelius (3.1.06). I'm not doing this with an external device:
I have a program which outputs midi files, but can only play them (not save them). I have MapleMidi (a midi loop program) which allows this program to play midi directly into Sibelius (and vice versa, which works fine). The problem is this:
I start playing the midi into Sibelius, and the notes appear for a few bars, but then Sibelius freezes. After about 2 minutes it tells me it had an error and had to close.
If I try and record for only, say, 2 notes (& stop playing into Sibelius after that), Sibelius freezes anyway (i.e. the amount of time it records for has little to do with it).

Please help me solve this. Thanks!
