I am useing Sibelius 6 on windows 7. I tried to use a kaia lpk25 keyboard and all I get is a message to close down some of my programmes. It claims there is a memory problem. Should I dump the keyboard and buy a different one, and if so, can you recommend a inexpensive midi keyboard that works with my set up. :(

The only reference I can find to this keyboard on a Google search is your initial post.

It's almost certainly either 1) crap keyboard or 2) crap drivers that are causing the problems. First, see if you can get hold of a proper set of Win 7 compatible drivers - if I can't find details on Google, that may be awkward!

If you can't, consign it to the bin and buy something decent. As for recommendations, you haven't given any info. Number of keys, full size or mini keys, with or without controller knobs/sliders, max price etc.

Makes I'd look at include Korg, Edirol/Roland, M-Audio.

Hi AndyG, thank you for your reply. A small keyboard possibly no more than £100-150. I only need it for composiing and I don't need sliders or arpegios etc. Just a straight forward keyboard with a couple of octaves will be fine. Regards. johndee

Aha, there was a typo in your post. I guess you have an AKAI LPK25? In which case, check to make sure that you have the latest win 7 drivers here:

If there are no Win7 drivers, or you still have problems (AKAI is a respected name, so their products should be OK) then try a google for 'controller midi keyboard'. You'll find loads in your price range. M-Audio's Axiom range is rather nice. I use an earlier version of the current models, and I also use a Roland/Edirol keyboard.

Cheers Andy, this afternoon I bit the bullet and sent away for a Korg microKey midi board. It should do the job.
