I cannot get Sibelius to save my settings in Audio Engine Options from one session to another. They always revert to a default setting, and I have to reset them every time. So what I do is this. I set the Interface I wish to use (my Bose USB Audio CorAudio) then the buffer size to 4096, leaving the sample rate at 48000 and the latency at 87.35. then close the audion engines options panel, and finally close the playback devices dialogue. (Pressing save makes no difference.) All works fine until I log out of Sibelius, and then I need to reset them afresh for the next session. Is there no way to save the settings, or am I doing something wrong? Any comments appreciated. Thanks. MIchael Lawson

Save everything as a new Playback Configuration. That should work, and you can use that configuration (or any other) when you set up a score.

I don't use a USB audio device, but I have one. As an experiment, I plugged it in and set it up like the settings you listed. There is no save button. I closed Sibelius, then reopened it. My settings were still there. What is the setting that gets reverted to? And what audio device is selected when you reopen Sibelius. Also, you may need to set your sound device as the default device in system preferences. Assuming this is a Mac.
If you unplug the usb device, It's not unusual to have to reset it.

Sibelius won't let you over-write one of the built-in configurations. You have to give your new configuration a completely new name. When you do you will get a Save button.

Thanks to everyone who has replied. I have tried the various suggestions. No progress yet, unfortunately. So I have checked that my Bose USB Audio is selected in my Mac OSX preferences.I have renamed the configuration (using Note performer 2) after setting the Audio Engine Options and saved them. It appears Sibelius holds on to my settings until there is a system reboot. Then following there is no output sound from the score playback. It reverts under Audio Engine to Built in Output (Core Audio) Buffer 1024, Sample 44,100 and Latency 25.85. (The two settings that have changed are the interface and the buffer size. Virtual Instruments remains ticked. (Of course it works when I change it back manually, but only for that session until the computer is rebooted.) I'm using Sibelius 8.5 on an iMac. The spec of my setup is below. Thanks so much to each of you who has replied. Michael Lawson

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your Bose. Is it plugged in through a USB hub? If so, is the hub powered?

This is a speaker system? Maybe you could borrow some speakers that plug in to the headphone jack, just to experiment.

Dear Bob

Thanks for the good suggestion. Unfortunately according to Bose being a USB attachment the Companion 5 doesn't have any drivers as such. However, they have suggested that I disable the other sound outputs, so Sibelius doesn't have any other choices. I am going to try that now.

All best

Michael

Before trying to work out what is going on further, could you please post screenshots of your Audio engine options dialog and your playback devices dialog? Could we also see the drop down list of your configurations?

Hi...I have the same problem, OC. And this since I own this sound card, which is over 6 months now. There is still the same version of Sound Blaster Connect 2 installed on my PC, still no update and it doesnt save my Acoustic Engine settings! I bet we both are not the only one with this problem but I don't find anyone complaining about it on the official Creative Forum, which is kind of strange.

IIRC (and from my own experience of creative cards) they are NOT the happiest of playmates with Sib. Creative cards tend to be gaming cards, with a strong bias towards handling the kinds of sounds needed by games. While this may seem odd, this is NOT always the best for audio work.

Just thinking aloud here, but are your permissions correctly set up? Macs can be really funny about saving stuff into folders where you don't have full permissions.
