I have Sibelius Ultimate on a MacBook Pro using Catalina.

When I try to play sound from my arrangement (either from the Play option or Transport), the sound doesn't always work. I can see the line moving from measure to measure, but there is no sound.

Sometimes restarting my computer and restarting Sibelius works, but not always.

Also, I have headphones plugged into my computer, and a lot of the time if I can get the sound to work, it will play through the computer built in speakers. I have tried unplugging and replugging them, but to no avail.

I have contacted Apple support, and they told me since this only happens with Sibelius, it must be a Sibelius issue.

I have played with any preference I can find, but nothing seems to change any of these issues.

HELP! I'm going crazy!

OK.

We need to see your Playback devices and audio engine options dialogs, please. The latter also needs to show the list of available devices in the drop down (separate image).

In Windows, you can take a screenshot od the windows audio devices - if you can do this on a mac it would be useful to check that the OS and sib are both using the same output devices.

Do you have an external soundcard or are you using the built-in Mac audio?

Finally, is it possible to email me a score that misbehaves like this so I can check your internal settings? (mike@mike-lyons.co.uk)

I don't know what you mean by playback devices - I'm just talking about it making any sound at all. It is set to just use the built in speakers.

I took a pic of every audio option I can find on my Mac and with Sibelius. There are pretty much no options on any of it, so it should be working.

I was just working on something and listening to it, and the sound cut out mid-playback

Does unticking that Mute box on the Output screen help? Just a guess, I don't have a Mac.
