- Sibelius Version: 7.5.1
I'm currently running Sibelius 7.5.1 on MacOS 10.15.6 (Catalina). I know this isn't supposed to be compatible but no issues have come up until now (and this is seemingly unrelated from what I've read. Every time i start sibelius i get the Audio Engine Error: Bad Settings message. I've restarted my computer, deleted the PlogueEngine and the Common folder, and because one forum said so, I deleted the Playback Configurations folder which apparently DELETED all of the sound libraries??? I've run Ableton with no problem (while Sibelius is quit) and am completely at a loss. If anyone can help me with this, I will be forever in your debt. All the instruments in my sibelius programs show up as unallocated as well.

Are you trying to operate an ASIO interface with General MIDI (Basic) set as playback device? No configuration using that playback device will work under Catalina and combinning those elements will cause errors on any OS. Certainly, it won't work reliably.
It has always been my thought that you should first copy a folder to a different location/give it a different name before you delete it. just in case something goes wrong! Deleting stuff without taking such precausions is foolish at best.
Change the sample rate in audio engine options to 44.1k. Sibelius doesn't really like 48k. Considering the damage you have done to your sib installation, I would seriously consider completely uninstalling and then doing a fresh install. Also, reinstall the sound library(ies). Be aware that Catalina may not allow 7.5 to work. Apple aren't messing about when they say it is incompatible.
