Sib 6 - Can't specify Best Sound in Playback Defaults in Edit Sound

I'm in Sibelius 6 (don't ask). Trying to set up NotePerformer bowed cymbal, bowed gong, etc. I follow the universally posted instructions: House Style/Edit Instrument/choose similar instrument/Click Edit Instrument/rename all/ BUT Playback Defaults displays nothing in its first, Best Sound box, the box will not accept typed in puts, and the associated "Choose" button is dead/grayed out. Changing to Sibelius Sounds as Playback device doesn't help. I have no idea why this is happening. I was hoping it would show the current Best Sound for the original instrument I am cloning/editing, with a dropdown of related sound IDs, and perhaps let me type in a fresh sound ID. No luck. Any help?
