Hi everyone,

I know there are several topics considering the available playback devices, but unfortunately i haven't found a solution yet :( ...so maybe anyone can help here.

I am using the newest version of Sibelius Ultimate (v 2021.9), just downloaded it few days ago, and still using it in the 30 days trial. I want to use my Focusrite Solo (3rd Gen, Firmware 1605, Focusrite Control 3.6.0.1822) in Sibelius, but it's just not listed in the "available devices".

I already checked for the newest version of the Focusrite Software and re-installed it, but it did not change anything.

Somebody got an idea oder experience what to do?

General MIDI won't work with ASIO.

Have you downloaded and installed Sibelius Sounds? If not, that's your next step, but I'm not 100% sure it works in the trial period. Only one way to find out. Big download - 23GB+ and unpacks to over 34GB.

Once installed, you'll be able to use the Playback Configuration 'Sibelius Sounds' and you should then be able to use your Focusrite.

No obviously I haven't...i will need to check if that's possible in the trial period. Didn't know this could be the reason a device is not listed (that's why I'm using the trial period, to check if everything is working :D )

Thanks for your idea so far!

MIDI Basic is incompatible with ASIO (including WASAPI) drivers. You can play using a MIDI configuration if you use a different driver (MME or DS) but there will always be latency issues.

You have "Use Virtual instruments" ticked in the Audio Engine Options dialog. This is only necessary if you have a VST such as Sib sounds or NotePerformer (which also has a free demo period) which is much smaller (and better) than Sib sounds.
Sib 6.2, 7.5 and 2023.6, Windows 11, 32GB RAM, 16TB 7200RPM Storage, 2TB SSD, Note Performer 3.3.2, EWQLSO, EWQLSC, Harmony Assistant and some others. mike@mike-lyons.co.uk
