Playback Config Hangs with AU or VST

I assign a VST or AU plugin to a sound (piano) in the playback config window. I close the window then click the arrow for playback config and nothing happens. The playback config arrow does nothing. The rest of SIB is fine but I have to restart it to see the config again. Also when I click “show” to edit the VST or AU I can edit the plugin but then I close the config window SIB stops playing. Have the latest perpetual license on new MacBook Pro
