I am working with a single line treble score. Suddenly clefs have begun to appear in the middle of lines (proceeded by a very small break in the staff.) The clef is not able to be removed even if I re-do the line by adding a system break. Any ideas?

You may have inadvertently applied Split Systems. Try selecting the errant bars and make sure the 'Gap Before' value is set to zero.

It's more than likely you have been dragging barlines around. You only really need to do that in one specific case (creating an incipit).

Select the affected bars acorss the break and use the inspector to set gap beofre bar to 0.
